The Unthinkable

What a weekend..

Grosvenor's new Friday tourny kicked off with a bang with 95 runners, my table once again raising suspicions about the seating process as im joined by Teamdobbs and s2c, along with GazWalker.. off to a bad start already, depending on your priorities.

GazWalker clearly had the Friday Fajitas @ Circus on the brain though and had promptly lost his starting stack, (and his double chance stack) within the first 45mins having been converted into a non-believer by the table raising machine.

DC was next to go as i put him all in on a raggy flop with my flush draw (clubs), which he unfortunately snap calls.. expecting to brick (as is now standard) i was left quite shocked as i hit the flush on the turn, despite Dobba holding two clubs as well. I remember thinking to myself that this may be the start of a good night if i can start hitting some draws.

Aces (x3), Kings, Queens (x2) and Jacks all follow in the next couple of hours and all do their job.

The first time i looked at aces i decided to limp, being in early position and with the raising machine that disposed of GazWalker in the blinds, i thought it was worth the risk. He obliged by raising from 100 to 400, and although i thought this may give away the strength of my hand, we're heads up, so i min-raise to 700. The Machine obviously didn't approve and told me i couldn't do that, i would "have to make it eight". I explained why i could make it 700 and Scott backed me up as the acting Table Captain/Dealer to which he replied "alright, fck it then, i call".

It was at this point i was beginning to see a much welcome double up on the horizon.

The flop came K Q 4 and he checks to me. Having been told i need to bet 800 pre-flop at least twice, i decide to give him his wish and i say "I tell you what, ill make it eight". As i look over he responds saying "well, ill tell you what.. ill make it sixteen", prompting me to slide my entire stack over the line before he has a chance to put the chips in. One snap call later i find myself doubled up to 15k as he tables KJ and proceed to brick the turn and river.

By the time i find myself up to 29k i'm feeling quietly confident until GazWalker's seat is finally filled by none other than young prodigy in the making 'NRH', who had previously chopped/cashed 4 tournaments just last week! To make matters worse he had 40k+! I'm no longer the chipstack to avoid.

My button rolls around, and it's folded to me. "Button raise!" is screaming in my head and i look down at a more than good enough 45 suited (hearts). Nathan, knowing i may not have much, calls from the small blind.

The flop comes a dream 6 7 of hearts and an off suit 3, giving me an open-ended straight flush draw, along with the nuts for good measure. To my surprise by the time an offsuit 5 lands on the turn Nathan puts me all in, to which i obviously call, only for him to show 9 10 of hearts!!! FML, don't do it Scott, one time.. i think i could possibly quit life if i lose this straight flush over straight flush... .... .... the most pretty brick of the night lands on the river and i now find myself with almost 60k with 40+ players remaining. I think there's only one player in the card room who could fck this up from here, unfortunately, that was me!

There was no disaster on the horizon however as by the time 5:30am rolls around we chopped the winnings heads-up for a nice £500 pay-day. After passing chips back and forth for an hour the slightest suggestion of a chop i was happy to agree to. DC will no doubt feel better his chips did not go to waste.

-------------------------

Saturday at Aspers i get Aces in first position and proceed to get outdrawn by K9 early doors and am out 30mins in, Mr Consistent as always. Off to the Grosvenor again and run like an absolute sack of shit for two buy-ins and decide i may have used up all my luck.

Calling it a night i decide to rail the cash table for an hour or so (and Spoona on BlackJack, but the less said about that the better).

Sunday brings more cash action at Circus, as the Redtooth League players were in attendance and by the time i decide to call it quits, myself and Chris have put in a good 12hr cash session. We're both happy to leave up on the day, even if the Lakers did win in OT.

On a more important note, i received an email at work last week telling me the Internet Protection filter jobby is to be upgraded to a better program on Monday (today) and guess what.. the unthinkable has happened... the NPF is now blocked, Bad Beat of the Century! I may actually have to do some work for change now.. sigh.

  5. That kid was a right leaky tap I dunno how he survived so long (oh yeah by winning every single race). Aye you were tighter than me like when you got chips

Hard lines on the blockage, dunno if there's anything I can help you with if it's blocking by keywords.

  6. LOL, he was impossible to kill off, he just kept coming back.

Knowing i had final table chips with 40 players left i decided to keep them all safely tucked away in the garage until the big hands hit me in the face.. that didn't stop people like Simpa tanking when i re-raise pre, or going over the top when i open raise, what a tool.

I did find it odd that the forum was pretty much the only site with the word poker in the address that i could log onto.. I can only assume you're now getting the credit you deserve and have been added to the list.
