Absolute Air: The 4th Emergency Service

It's been a busy weekend these past couple of days, what with the 1st Birthday of the NPF celebrations at Circus.

I arrived @ Circus to see i'm seated on what was to become the feature table as the others took their seats. Both Dobber Sr. and Dobber Jr sit down, followed by Koyte, Jimmy Chipmunk and Knerrad and his packet of sweets. It was boisterous to say the least.

Now, being a sucker for value, whenever i visit Pizza Hut i normally make the most of my free refills, drinking 'em like there's no tomorrow just to get my moneys worth... Koyte (sporting his 'Sal Mon' sweater with the now standard daffodil pinned on) was seemingly under the impression this applied to the Fosters @ Circus. Needless to say, the banter was flowing as fast as the Fosters.

An absolutely brilliant event (as expected) and credit goes to all those involved in making it such a success: TeamDobbs, S2C, Card("board")Kid, Mr Entertainment, all the Circus Staff (even though one of them actually won the whole damn tournament) and not forgetting Tubbs for all the balloons.

After crashing out of the birthday event, i followed the advice of fellow blogger gotTilt and headed to the Grosvenor to play cash, rather than sitting with the sharks @ Circus (we want to make some money after all). I am forced to sit on the feeder table when i get there, joining Imi who already looked to have made himself comfy.
Having played for about an hour (already a buy in down), the vacant seat to my right was filled by what can only be described as a walking brewery. Much to Varzee's amusement he sat down and asked if he could play with "this", holding in his hand one 25p chip! I flash the Varz a confused look and he was promptly told to "hop it". He quickly moved on to the 3-card poker table where he was to be sadly disappointed once again.

Moving to the feature table my luck changes and i win a few tasty pots, value betting bottom pair helping me along the way to leaving with a healthy profit on the night (when i say night i clearly mean morning, it was after 6am when i decided to head home).

Being the addict i am, I wake up just in time to head to Aspers, finding myself in seat 1, brilliant.. i'm dealing, great start. GazWalker is already sat down, so that makes up for it i suppose, and can expect a bit of banter, along with Joan 'The Killer' who i enjoy winding up as much as possible. Knowing im dealing i fully expect to be down to half my starting chips within an hour, and i was right. On life support i somehow manage to bluff my way back up to 5k before a moment of pure madness (inspired by highstakes poker) suddenly overwhelms me.

The entire table limps (incl. me with 2 3 off) for what looks like a family pot until the BB makes what was 100 to play, 300 to play. After four calls i decide this is the perfect opportunity to squeeze the life out of it and bump it up to 1400, which eventually, only one person calls. I have position and we see an A 2 K flop which is checked to me. Pushing without hesitation the caller passes showing an 8 (presumably pocket 8s) and i decide 'it's good for the game' and show bottom pair under Walker's instructions. This was to ultimately be my downfall.

Gaz was now completely and utterly convinced i was permanantly 'at it' from this point on and later called me in 3 spots with absolute fcking air with K J (no draws!) only to suck out on the river, thankfully he did me a favour as i later cashed at Circus (7th is better than nowt). So i'd like to take this opportunity to say well played Gaz, i suspect i may have got more than you for your 10th place finish at Aspers, for that, i am forever greatful.

  1. Love it :D

The best retort I can make to that is - I was in bed for 11.30pm, so although I didn't make as much money as you, I definitely slept a damn sight longer than you :p
