My first post of my first (and probably only) blog. Where do i start? I suppose i should stick to the format the title suggests and begin with some poker.
Having enjoyed a decent run over the weekend, finishing second @ Circus on Sunday (brag post!) and screwing numerous friends out of their hard earned cash on Saturday @ Grosvenor, i decided to give Poker a rest yesterday. Having spent most of my night trying to get action of a different sort, fellow Blogger Carlin finally drags me to Grosvenor to play a spot of cash, despite my best efforts not to.
It seems the poker Gods are very sensitive these days, as Andy is likely to testify ("amen brother") as within the first 5 hands Carlin loses over half his buy in despite making a decent fold (Q-high straight) in a 3-way pot.
Now, i've learned the hard way not to get too confident in poker, no matter what situation you find yourself in, because Karma is a bitch, and she's pissed!
Ill give you an example.
A few hands later Carlin moves all in for the remainder of his buy in (just over £15) . Looking down at pocket fours in the seat next to him, im far from inspired. It was at this point the over-excited little paddy reached for my stack and fished out the correct 'chippage' for me to call, and placed it just infront of the betting line.
Having ran like water for the past few days, i push the chips over the line to the sound of Andy's cries of "HarHarrr! Yes!!!". As everyone else passes he flips his Aces up for me to see (proud as punch) and i calmly tell him i have 2 outs... The Gods it seems, were far from happy.
Having told him "if i hit, i'm going to slow-roll you" the flop is smashed down on the table by Gambit Varzee with a four in the window and the words "yeah i've hit" flow from my lips without hesitation. By the time i make Quads on the turn, needless to say, Andy wasn't exactly too impressed.
Lesson learned? Don't be a cocky shite! Whatever happened to the luck of the Irish eh? "Oops!"
